More about Yoga and Myofascia Release
YOGA and MYOFASCIA RELEASE FOR GOLFERS
We will practice specific yoga stretches for flexibility, balance and strength, that will help your golf swing movements, (and your. nervous system)j, with a short sequence to do before you golf to loosen up, and afterwards to help any kind of “over doing” to your body, to relieve it.
We will also explore Jill Miller’s Yoga Tuneup therapy balls for self- massage of fascia.
Please look at the Utube video, “The Fuzz talk” by. Gil Hedley. It will help you understand
the importance of fascia throughout our body, and why we need to take care of it.
Gil Hedley: Fascia and Stretching: The Fuzz Speech. (UTUBE)
(Just google search it)
FROM JILL MILLER:
What is fascia? “ Fascia is one of your body’s connective tissue. It stitches your entire body together from foot to face.,cell to skin, and everything in between. It has loads of its own cells, and hundreds of millions of nerve endings, and connects your body to itself.”
TOP 3 things to do for Fascia Health:
VARY YOUR POSITION. Don’t stay stuck in the same shape s all day, because your fascia will accommodate that and grow stiffer in that shape. That means if you try to go walking after sitting all day, your hips are going to be stiffer.
LOAD YOUR BODY ("loading" is to challenge your body enough to force it to adapt and grow stronger….YOGA). When you load your body you tell your fascia they must be strong and resilient. As we age, it isn’t just bone and muscle we loose,. We also become more brittle in our connective tissue., and they are more likely to tear.
Support your fascia with Myofascial Release , or self massage. (Therapy Balls) When youroll your fascial tissues, it helps “de-glue” the areas that have become stiff from lack of movement or injury. This overall increases your range of motion, freedom of movement and comfort in your body.
Through yoga, we can increase strength, flexibility, and balance, address stress. (mind /body). and with therapy ball rolling techniques help to relieve stiffness and pain, re-hydrate fascia so it can slide, and we feel better in our body. (SELF MASSAGE)
I will have Jill Miller Therapy balls for everyone to use in the workshop, but if you would like to buy your own, you can buy them on Amazon…..(Jill Miller, YOGA TUNEUPTHERAPY BALLS IN TOTE. $18.99, overnight delivery
The Yoga and rolling is for all, adaptive for any existing injuries or movement restrictions.
